VENANGOBORO.
    The town is beautifully situated on the west bank of French Creek, in the southeast corner of Venango township.  It was incorporated as a borough in the year 1853.  It contains four churches, viz: one Presbyterian, Rev. D. Wagoner, pastor; one 2d Lutheran, Rev. G. Gaumer, pastor.  One graded school, two hotels, one cheese factory, one grist mill, one saw mill, one stave factory, one cheese-box factory, one woolen mill, two blacksmith shops, one wagon shop.  The Odd Fellows, Knights of Pythias, United Workmen and State Police societies meet here regularly.
